3Cs Vintage Cider

Northamptonshire

3Cs vintage cider is an award winning premium brand of cider produced in association with Perry's Cider. The blend of apples includes some wonderful old English varieties including Harry Masters and Chisel Jersey. The apples are pressed and fermented to produce a rich and rounded flavour. As William Sitwell, food writer and co-founder of the 3Cs cider brand comments: 'It errs more on the dry side than many modern day mass market ciders which are very sweet. It makes it a great drink for sipping - or indeed glugging - it's a fantastic alternative to wine and it goes very well with food, especially roasts.'

The three founders of 3Cs cider, William Sitwell along with musician Toby Grafftey Smith and artist Jasper Galloway are three friends who live in the three counties of Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. For several years they have made cider using a press they bought on eBay, storing and fermenting the juice in demi-jons before bottling and sharing the drink with friends. Today, having teamed up with family firm Perry's, they can share their passion for cider with the wider British public.

3Cs cider, which is now available in famous London store Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly, is also a vintage cider as Jasper Galloway explains: 'As with wine, some years are better than others. So we bottle in the best years. 2011 was a great year for apples. After a cold winter there was an unusually warm spring and although the summer was cool, autumn was warm and in spite of the lack of rainfall, there was a lot of good quality fruit. And while 2012 was a terrible year for British fruit, 2013 is looking epic'.
