Delphic Brewing Co

Delphic Brewing Company began life in 2017 when founder‑brewer Tom Broadbank started experimenting with small‑batch recipes on a 50L homebrew system in a Thatcham garage, just outside Newbury. At the time, Tom was holding down a full time job at a large local brewery and the beers made in the garage were nothing more than a way of expressing creativity and experimenting with new recipes. Still, these beers needed a name and a 'deliberately obscure' one was used - 'Delphic'.

The project soon outgrew hobby status, in May 2019 he secured a commercial brewing licence, squeezing a 500L kit into that same double garage. Those first commercial releases—a classic best bitter, hop‑forward pale ales and a silky milk stout—appeared in both cask and keg around West Berkshire.
It was all going so well... then Covid-19. The brewery was quick to adapt to the new normal. Tom launched an online shop, starting off door-step drops of fresh cask ale, packed into 5L containers. The brewery launched it's first small pack beers, bottles and cans, mini-kegs and merchandise, continuing to grow. More fermentation tanks were added to an already cramped garage brewery.
As the world slowly returned to normal, pub and bar trade resumed, and Tom was able to take the brewery's wares out on the road. Popping up all over at regular markets, shows, festivals and events.
Over the next 4 years, the garage brewery was filled with so many tanks that a move to a larger premises was really needed. And so the search began...
We opened the doors to Delphic Brewing Company Taproom, Mayors Lane, Newbury on 6th July 2024. We installed a brand new brew-kit a few weeks later, which is viewable from the taproom area (shiny)! We are still a very small batch brewery, meaning we have lots of seasonal releases and specials for you to try.
We brew a broad range of styles, both traditional ales and innovative craft beers.
