Suspect Brewing

Scotland

Suspect Brewing is more than just your typical brewing company. We represent the quest of making great tasting craft beer without using any barley in the process. All of our beers are deceptively crafted using grains such as millet and buckwheat but without compromising maltiness, hoppiness or flavour.

At Suspect Brewing we are pioneering a new type of craft. We are Suspect because, simply put, our beer tastes like beer, and does not taste like anything else. Using science and an innovative process we are able to design beers that have all the qualities of barley-based beers but without the barley.

Suspect Brewing is a company founded with the principles of brewing beer without ever using barley in the process. Initially started by Matt Marriott at the beginning of 2020 (great time to start a company btw…), he was soon joined by Ross Brown and in December of 2020 they had scored themselves a brewing premises down in Leith (as there was conveniently one for sale).

Having spent the past few months renovating the brewery space and making it ‘legal’ to sell and produce beer, both Matt and Ross set about launching their first beer in June, 2021. Our first beer, Circuit Breaker, is a Lager made with Malted Millet and Buckwheat. We source our grain from gluten free sources and our brewery is a dedicated gluten free facility and we do not permit gluten on the premises.
