We launched Star Wing in 2015 for the same reason anybody who starts a microbrewery starts a microbrewery – because we love beer. After lots of sampling, brewery tours and a brewing course we took over an old, derelict sawmill and began renovating.
It took a couple of years to install our 10 beer barrel brewing plant and we used that time to create recipes and work on our branding.
We began the journey with the name Selig Brewery, which means ‘blessed’ or ‘blessing’ in German. For this we developed a logo based around an angel carving found on a pillar in a nearby town. The rotund angel had a star medallion hanging around its neck and the logo soon became stripped down to a pair of wings with a star in the middle. Realising that we had created the perfect brand for a German lager, we decided to take our logo more literally and changed our name to ‘Star Wing Brewery.’ We still use the original logo drawing of the angel on our Stain Glass Blue label.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength, launching commercially and selling our seven cask ales across Norfolk and Suffolk. Have a look lower down the page to see our range of beers.
