Salento’s business is built on a multi-generational passion for beer. Its founder, Maurizio started his journey in 1983; with a young family to support, he made a living selling bottles of beer door-to-door from the back of an old pickup truck. Skip forward 20 years, and that scrappy business is Mebimport, one of southern Italy’s most successful distributors of beer, wine and spirits.
With business running smoothly, Maurizio could pursue his dream of opening a brewery of his own. Today, that dream is Puglia-based farm brewery Birra Salento.
