Description
#29 in the well loved Dry Hop Project (DHP) series of beers, championing British Hops. The DHP golden ales are always 4.8% but each one features a different UK hop. Our dry hopped beers are heavily late hopped and further enhanced by dry hopping - the process of placing hops directly in the cask when barrelling to increase the hop flavour and complexity of the beer. Some brewers dry hop in the fermenter or conditioning tank, but we think you get the maximum flavour from adding the hops to the cask, the old fashioned way. We make muslin bags, fill them with hops and add these flavour bombs at the barrelling stage! Keyworths Early was bred at Wye College, Kent. It is a vigorous variety but was not particularly popular with brewers and production ceased in 1962. But as tastes change, it is now a firm favourite with some UK brewers. It has a pungent flavour of grapefruit and lemon, more in keeping with modern tastes hence its popularity now.
