Description
Pot Kettle Black is a juxtaposition - fresh and hoppy, yet dark and rich. Wars have almost begun over whether it is a Hoppy Porter or a Black IPA. We believe it's unique, and was especially so in 2008 when we first brewed it, so we came up with our own style of South Pacific Porter.
Over the years we noticed how much it changed, and how equally we loved it, as it aged. Unlike most hoppy pale ales, PKB (as it's become affectionately known) ages gracefully and turns into something wonderously complex. The juxtaposition fades away and the lines between malt, hop, and fermentation characteristics become blurred. Stu loves it best at 6-9 months. Sam at a year old.
PKB Remix 2018 is, quite simply, our standard Pot Kettle Black cellar-aged for 15 months. There is no barrel-aged wizadry, no tweaking of the recipe to help it age better, it's just a great example that not all cliches of so-called common sense always hold true. As Stu so often espouses on twitter: #FreshIsNotBest.
