Bothy Barley Wine

Description

Bothy Barley Wine is dedicated to Bothy Vineyard – the land on which we’re grateful to brew – and the people who helped us make it. Aged for 24 months, it’s a malty, dark beer nuanced by smooth notes of toasted granary loaf, dates, fresh cherries, bitter dark cacao and maple.

Not too sweet and not too dry. Pairs well with sticky toffee pudding, chilled tiramisu or shared on its own with good friends by a campfire.

Being a malt-forward style, we brewed a wort using the finest barley from a selection of artisan maltsters. During the secondary fermentation, we pitched barrel oak chips and brettanomyces to reflect the historical character of the style.

As a nod to Bothy, we blended in 5% Regent wine, made from grapes we picked from their 2022 harvest and fermented on their skins; lending the beer subtle undertones of blackcurrants and berries.

To finish, we added 3.5kg of raw Exmoor wildflower honey to naturally condition and round out the beer.

Ingredients: water, malted barley, wheat, Regent grapes, hops, brettanomyces & yeast.
